Thoughts and Updates: Monday (7/7) Edition

Recently, I made a really hard decision.

Check it out on Amazon: https://a.co/d/bOrI2Jj

But it was truly for the best. I have gone radio silent on most of my social media platforms.

Some things just are hard. I’m trying to continue to do the hard stuff. I’m trying to keep it all spinning, but some plates have fallen for now. I am prioritizing making sure the writing gets done. It was hard to go radio silent on social media, but it was needed to give myself a break.

What does that mean for me? It means that, while I’m still self-published, I’m an author. I still want to sell books, I still want to be successful. I am not actively selling my book. It’s still available in all the places it was before. My website, Amazon. I’m still selling them in person. I’m just not creating content to entice people to buy it. (I want them too). Because the daily grind, life, mothering, and then writing, then marketing, was all too much. And because I feel like I’ve overexplained this. I move on.

So….What’s next? Here is a list to tell you via a list.

Journey/Thoughts/Comments/Q&As
via a list

  1. Edits. I have so much to do, but I have so much done. I need to find someone to help me edit this book. I’m not sure the same person who edited the first one will be able to edit the second one. We haven’t talked, so I just don’t know. But the full draft should be done this month if I continue to show up for myself. I want the complete draft to hand off to an editor by July 31st.
  2. Marketing. I made a heartbreaking call. I made a social post where I really explain it: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1VvBDG83tL/
  3. Independent Book Stores: Is there an update, No. Do I still want to do this? Yes. Am I pushing this down the list? Yes.
  4. Plotting. The outline has been replotted to better match the happenings of book one. The outline of book three is in progress to make sure the whole story has a satisfactory ending.
  5. Traditional Publishing: Yes. I still want to be traditionally published along with my self-published books. The plan I’m currently working under is this:
–July 31st; have book two draft complete.
–August 1-31st; work on two book series, working title Thought Chronicles to improve for querying.
Also have book two with an editor to prepare for self-publication.
–Sept until it happens; query for a literary agent for Thought Chronicles.
From there, I can see what happens.

I have lost steam. I’m losing momentum. But I am not giving up.

Thanks for following on with the journey.
